Because most of us haven’t gotten our ID.
Good morning sir/ma,
I want to use this medium to commend the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta for the work done so far, it has been a jolly good journey. I am a final year student of Michael and Cecilia Ibru university and this is my final semester which lectures were held online due to the pandemic. I want to also use this medium to point out the short-comings of the amnesty program. As a final year science student by experience i have discovered education is quite expensive as to get an outstanding experience through schooling finance has a major role to play, a larger percentage of my stipends throughout my program was spent on my academics leaving very little or no leeway for savings, starting from my 100lvl payments were delayed for a period of 5months within which we had courses with laptop as a requirement ,to partake in such courses we had to buy a personal computer pending the approval of our payments and subsequently we got laptops from the board. Most students had to sell the laptops given to us so as to cut the losses of having 2 laptops. In my 200 & 300 lvl as a science student we were compelled to sort for Industrial training placements which we had very little time to search due to the rigid academic calendars. so most of us had to pay certain sums to pertake in that exercise excluding other expenses like transportation and feeding for 3months each. Finally, as a science finalist , we are required to complete a scientific project work in partial fulfillment of the bachelor of science degree which in this modern day is quite expensive, i did my research on the effect of antioxidants supplementation in Anti-malarial treatments using several equipments and materials which we needed to buy/lease from other laboratories, we spent over 100,000 naira individually to finance the science project. Finally, i am using this medium to plea to the office on behalf of the science students of the PAP delegates that those graduating with a 4.0 cgpa and above merit a (letter of recommendation/award of recognition or excellence) as they have toiled through day, burnt the midnight oil and definitely paid to price through hard-work and diligence towards this achievement. This i believe will foster excellence ,generate more high valued graduates from the region and aid the office to surpass set goals within stipulated time.
I hope this comment goes through the appropriate channel and i’ll be intrigued to get a favorable response sir. Thank you.
